A woman who allegedly tried to kidnap a child is now facing child abuse charges
A mother and her three children were kidnapped in Georgia, the second kidnapping in a week and the third attempted in the state, authorities said Tuesday.
The kidnapping occurred Saturday near Atlanta’s airport, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
It was the second attempted kidnapping of a child in the last week.
Authorities said the children were taken to a home in north Georgia where they were forced to watch TV for two hours.
The mother and children, ages 2, 3 and 5, were allegedly taken from their home in the 600 block of South Broadway in the city’s northern suburbs.
The children were able to call 911 and were then able to escape, authorities say.
The woman was then believed to be able to take them to a nearby Walmart store, where she was spotted by police.
The woman was taken into custody and faces kidnapping, aggravated child abuse and other charges.
