How to tell if your state’s emergency managers are qualified

The state has appointed more than 50 emergency managers in a bid to address its severe budget shortfall and massive unemployment.

The state Emergency Management Agency is overseeing emergency spending to deal with the $5.7 billion shortfall in the state’s budget.

More than 40 of the emergency managers were appointed after the state was hit with a $100 million shortfall in fiscal year 2018.
